What does “sleeps 8” mean?

Grand Fir Cabin is licensed by the State of Wisconsin and Polk County. Local regulations limit the total number of guests to 8 people maximum—this includes anyone on the property, whether inside the cabin, on the pontoon, or enjoying the yard. We know it’s cozy and tempting to bring more, but we truly appreciate you respecting this limit—it helps us preserve the peaceful experience for everyone!

What is the cancellation policy?

Life happens—we get it! If you cancel more than 60 days before check-in, we’ll refund your payment minus a $100 admin fee (which covers processing and non-refundable credit card fees). Refunds are issued within 24 hours of your request.

For extra peace of mind, we also offer two travel insurance options at checkout.

Where is the cabin located?

Grand Fir Cabin is located on beautiful Big Blake Lake, in the charming town of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. It’s a peaceful, wooded spot with 300 feet of private shoreline—perfect for lake lovers and nature seekers alike.

What are the payment terms?

To confirm your reservation, we require a $500 payment up front. The remaining balance is due 60 days before check-in. If you’re booking less than 60 days out, the full amount is due at the time of reservation. Easy and straightforward—just the way we like it!

When Do We add the pontoon?

You’re welcome to add the pontoon anytime between booking and check-in! We’ll also send a reminder via email and text two weeks before your arrival in case you’d like to add it then. It’s an easy upgrade—and the best way to enjoy Big Blake Lake!

Can we bring our dog?

es—we’re pet friendly and happy to welcome your pup! The cost is $25 per day, per dog, with a maximum of $125 per dog per stay. We allow up to two dogs per reservation. Tail wags and lake naps await!

When is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM.

During the summer months, early check-in and late check-out are not available. To honor your peaceful escape, all pontoon services, yard work, maintenance, laundry, and cleaning are completed between guests—and we need the full 5-hour window to make everything perfect for you and the next guest. Thanks for understanding!
