Perch are an easy catch and the perfect fish for young children. Wisconsin offers hundreds of lakes for fishing and Big Blake Lake is our favorite lake. Perch are pack hunters that hunt during the day in shallow water. They prefer live bait so stop by one of local bait shops and stock up on worms, minnows and grubs.  Grab your favorite  chair and take a seat near the shoreline or dock and cast away.

Crappie fishing is excellent in the spring and fall. Take advantage of the weed beds, docks and structures near shore because that is where crappies hide. They bite on minnows and grubs the best so stock up for a long day of fishing.  They are an ideal fish for children because they are an easy and abundant catch. We have the best results while casting from the shoreline or dock and catch 30 to 40 fish in an afternoon.

Bass fishing in Wisconsin

Bass are the perfect fish for a beginner who is looking to move up from pan fish. A bit more challenging than sun fish and perch but not as elusive as the pike and musky. The bass season runs all year round and they are a great ice fishing catch. Another fish that loves to hide in weeds, under docks and around structures. Bass are most popular in the spring when they spawn and water is clear. Stock up on live bait so you can enjoy a long and successful day out on the lake. Fishing from a boat is the ideal way catch bass.

Walleye fishing around Balsam Lake Wisconsin

Walleye are light sensitive and prefer the cooler lake water. In the spring they are found near the shoreline in shallow water. As the lake water warms into the summer months they move into the deeper cooler water. Night crawlers are the optimal bait for walleye fishing. To fish for walleye you need a boat. Plan on bringing a fishing boat or rent one of our fishing pontoons.

With no natural predictors in Big Bake Lake pike grow large. You will find them hiding near weed beds in shallow waters. The fishing season for pike is all year round and we love to ice fish for them. They are know to be an aggressive eater and will bit anything that will fit into their mouth. Musky, the most elusive trophy fish of Wisconsin

Musky are Wisconsin’s most unique and elusive trophy fish and are the most exciting fish to catch. More record musky are caught in Wisconsin than any other state. The current state record is 69 pounds 11 ounces. Muskies are know to be moody and have a mind of their own. Their season in Wisconsin runs roughly May to the end of November giving guests three seasons of musky fishing.
